You’re looking at a Bakesale Betty chicken sandwich, or just a “sandwich” when you order quickly at the counter. The sandwich itself is two pieces of fried chicken on a soft bun dressed in a lettuce-jalapeno slaw that is out of this world.
The inside of the Temescal, Oakland restaurant is only a fast-moving counter (seriously, don’t dawdle… I love these people!), but there is seating outside in the form of ironing boards and stools (aww, I really love these people!). The place has been around for a while, but each time I go I’m reminded of how amazing it is. Messy, crunchy, and just spicy enough — it’s amazing!
(My boyfriend had one of these for lunch today, so I’ve mostly been staring at the photo in utter jealousy.)
